Wolf Bargain(Whisking Bakes)

(Cafe decked out in purple)
(All things in pastel purple give the cafe a sense of calm)

Whisking Bakes is a newly opened cafe that specialised in Orh Nee(Yam) focus sweets. Nestled in Crawford Lane,  the cafe was the brain child of former aircrew, Chanel Lee. Her story is truly inspiring, a prime example on how one can turn adversity into new opportunity.

(Yam Tart, the main attraction of the cafe)

Back in mid 2020, during the height of covid pandemic, Chanel, the former aircrew was grounded due to lack of flying opportunities as borders of most countries were shut due to covid related travel restrictions. Unable to fly, she decided to start an online business selling Yam Tarts. It was an instant success, she was making 3000 Yam Tarts a week. Gone maybe her job as an aircrew but she is soaring new height with her new cafe. Whisking Bakes was born with the aim of expanding her Taro offerings. There are Taro Mochi Swiss Roll, Taromisu, Taro burnt Cheese Cake and Taro Cake to salivate and enjoy. Taro Tart is the main star and conduit for her new cafe. Coffees, Lattes and tea are available. I have tried most of the items(someone had to do the hardwork of tasting it)😀. All items are quite unique, I have not taste anything similar before, they are handmade with love from their kitchen. One can do a peek-a-boo into their kitchen to see the owner hard at work.

Below are my top 3 “orh”der.

1.) Taro Mochi Swiss Roll is not overly sweet, soft on the outside and a chewy core. The present of Mochi in the roll give it a nice texture. The Swiss Roll is perfect for the health conscious looking for a sweet treat without the guilt.

2.) Taromisu had a subtle Taro fragrance, one could actually tasted the chunky bits of the taro. The cream is light, not overly burdensome on the palate. Moderate sweetness is great for the waistline.

3.)Iced Taro Latte is surprisingly refreshing. One can taste the fine Taro sediment in the latte. Nice aroma coming from the milk. The only downside, I didn’t get enough of that delicious drink. 😁

(Hot Taro Latte is available)

Do drop by the cafe if you are near North Bridge Road. The cafe is located a few shops away from the famous Michelin star Hill Street Bak Chok Mee. Local businesses are worthy of our support, just like my preference for investing in local listed companies, many undiscovered gems awaits our discovery. Special thank to Chanel and Auntie(Chanel’s Mother) for their kind introduction. I wish Whisking Bakes every success.
