Lone Wolf Fund(LWF) Portfolio as at end of April   1.) Cash  2.) Singapore Medical Group(SMG) *Stocks are not rank in accordance to capital invested .  *Just for sharing. Not an inducement to buy or sell . Commentary   Straits Times Index in face of multiple challenges was surprisingly resilient. Index was down marginally in April. Nasdaq was down more than 17% ytd . A bloodbath was lashed out among the tech stocks in April. LWF had a quiet April. Cash yield was at 0.08% per month. I was pretty bearish since March after Fed changed their dovish view on interest rate policy. There is market talk of a bigger 0.75% jump in interest rate in May.😮I am expecting Fed fund rate to hit 2% by end of the year if the stock market can withstand that kind of increase without the pain. Given all the negative vibes coming out from me, I did contemplate whether to share my view on a particular company last month but withholding it at the very last min. Now I have decided,I am taking a chance on it. Th

Just two weeks ago, I had reviewed “ The deals of Warren Buffett Vol. 1 ” by Glen Arnold. Here I am back again for Vol. 2 The making of a Billionaire. The second instalment mention Mr. Buffett blockbuster deals. One particular deal which stood the test of time was Buffett purchased of GEICO. GEICO is currently the second largest auto insurer in US. GEICO was far cry from the strong company we known of today. There was a period in the company history where it was facing bankruptcy. During the early 70s, GEICO was underwriting auto insurance which subjected the company to huge exposure of drivers with poor driving record due to company executives opting for growth at all cost. The critical trend that cause profit to drop substantially was the changing of company policy to remove occupational restriction which resulted in customers with poorer accident statistics been roped in as customers. As underwriting standard fall, claims went up substantially which cause the company to suffer a 1

Wolf Bargain(Chef Lai Cafe)

(Look at that!! Oh Mama Mia ) Chicken Rice set for $6.90 under normal circumstance wasn’t much of a bargain home run, what if I tell you I had the same thing before for $25 at Mandarin Orchard. The cafe which sell chicken rice, curry chicken rice and braised meat rice is head by ex Chatterbox Chef Lai. The cafe is located at The Adelphi mall opposite Funan. Chef Lai Cafe had been in operation for close to 4 years. They do have a good following. It is usually crowded during lunch hour.  (The lunch time crowd is back) The small shop barely had enough seatings for more than 10 people. The eatery is far from the luxurious setting of having Chicken Rice in Mandarin Orchard but the substantially lower price compensate for lack of dining refinement. One could have 3 sets and have spare change. The taste is very similar to Chatterbox. A blind test wouldn’t spot the difference.  A set come with white cabbage, egg omelette and a bowl of herbal chicken soup. The sides are a good compliment to t

I remember when I was serving my National Service 25 years ago, one can always find solace picking up a book to read because there was simply nothing else to do during NS downtime. I was amused by the financial market at a very young age. Opened my first trading account when I reached the legal age of 21. Like many people who had just started out, finding my way into the investment world, I was drawn to Warren Buffett’s investment philosophy.  There were plenty of books been written on Warren Buffett business dealings. “The Warren Buffett Way” by Robert G. Hagstrom, “The Snowball” by Alice Schroeder are some books I enjoy reading.  (Content) “The Deals of Warren Buffett” The first 100m vol. 1 by Glen Arnold mention the formative years of Warren Buffett partnership to him eventually dissolving the partnership. Most people are familiar with Buffett landmark deals involving Coca Cola, Washington Post and the 26B purchase of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp in 2009. The book mention Buf
