(Merry X’mas and A Happy New Year everyone) Lone Wolf Fund(LWF) Portfolio as at end of November  1.) Cash 2.)  Valuetronics Holdings Limited   3.)  SBS Transit   4.)  Boustead Singapore(BSL) *Stocks are not rank in accordance to capital invested .  *Just for sharing. Not an inducement to buy or sell . Commentary   The Cashare portfolio of companies continue to offer stability to Lone Wolf Fund. Just to recap on my pivot into buying companies with huge cash or cash equivalents in their books. The huge cash pile adds to earnings growth of SBS Transit, Valuetronics and Boustead in the recently concluded earnings season due to tailwind from higher interest income. All companies in my portfolio had shown an improvement in earnings even though some companies’ revenues were lighter year on year. The high cash holdings will probably keep all the companies in portfolio out of trouble for the foreseeable future. There are possibility of those companies return excess cash to shareholders. The

(Image credit: benchmarkseniorliving) Old is gold I never quite understand the true meaning of the phase until I reached a more advanced age now. We treat old paintings and old historical artefacts with great care. Old wines and vintage cars commanded great value at auctions. It is one's great fortune to receive a grandfather’s bequest of a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing. A model was sold for USD $6.8m in 2022 which was bought in the ‘50s for slightly less than USD$ 7,000 or USD $71,000 equivalent in today's money. In recent times, I can’t pass a week without my government reminding me about the ageing society issue having an impact on our economy. In the recent announcement of forward sg, the government announced a broad range of initiatives to have seniors aged well in our society. There are a few points which I would like to talk about from my own observations.  Assisted living/daycare facilities   There is a lack of affordable assisted living/daycare facilities for seniors who do

(Credit: MAS)  The average 3.4% yield for Dec issued SSBs has the highest yield for the year. Yield hunters are likely to take notice of this month issue. Dec issue is likely to be over subscribed as yield for Jan issue is likely to be lower than Dec issue due to falling 10 years SGS bonds yield. Dec SSBs had similar yield of 3.3% for the first 6 years, slowly increasing to 3.68% on the tenth year. Good luck to those applying. Wolf Money(Boustead Singapore 1H FY2024 result)

Image
(If Cash machine has a name, it is call Boustead Singapore) Boustead Singapore reported a 19% increase in net profit excluded one off. Revenue for the reported half year was up 49%. Almost all business units experience growth with the exception of healthcare. The company is purposing 1.5c dividend, payable on 1 Dec 2023. I find the result quite impressive given last year there was a $11m currency gain. The result was a 10% improvement if currency was taken into account. Net cash per share had risen to 79.5c per Boustead Singapore share which represents close to 93.5% of the current market capitalisation base on last traded price of 85c.  The company had purposed an exit offer of $1.18 per share for Boustead Projects shareholders. Congratulations to the minority shareholders of Boustead Projects, your resolve had finally paid off. A resolution on the majority owner to accept the new exit offer needs to be voted by independent shareholders of Boustead Singapore. More detail at the end

Wolf Bargain(365 days Christmas Shop?)

Image
(Prominent shop located at the junction of Paya Lebar & Geylang Road) (The magical door into the Christmas wonderland)  There is one special shop in my neighbourhood that caught my eyes. The shophouse is prominently located at the junction of Paya Lebar Road and Geylang Road. People who drove past that road can’t miss it.  Who on earth loves Christmas so much by calling themselves Henry Christmas Wholesaler? Amazingly the shop’s facade is decked out in Christmas decorations for 365 days. The only time I have seen a Christmas shop operating the whole year round is a shop named, The Nutcracker in Stratford Upon Avon, England, also the Home of Shakespeare. (Trees in all shapes, sizes and colours are on sale) Christmas trees in all shapes, sizes and colours are available. Shoppers can choose from the many paraphernalia associated to the festival. One could recreated the scene of The Church of Nativity by buying the whole set of the figurines. There are plenty of accessories available
