Singapore Medical Group(SMG) *Stocks are not rank in accordance to capital invested .  *Just for sharing. Not an inducement to buy or sell . Commentary   As we draw a close to a troubled month of May. Companies and alternative assets which had no fundamental backing suffered the blunt of the selling. A big lesson drawn from the sell down “All that glitters ain’t gold”. When Luna was then the popular keyword search on Yahoo(Google not even in existence) The Japanese pop group, Luna Sea was making waves in the pop scene during the late 90s. History had a way of repeating itself in a different way, Luna(the crypto)jostled to the top of Google keyword search in May. I wouldn’t go into detail amid the “Luna Sea of red”. My heartfelt sympathy to those who suffered under the selling carnage. Famous words from a song by Kelly Clarkson “Stronger” “what doesn’t kill you make you stronger”. Wh

Wolf Bargain(XM Studios)

Fans of superheroes you are in for a treat. XM is a local company that specialises in Superheroes model making had just opened an experimental retail showroom that double up as a museum and cafe at Kitchener Complex.  I chanced upon them when I am on my way to fetch my son. This place is amazing. I am spellbound by the many wonderful display of Superheroes and cartoon models. I have to admit I am not a big fan of comic or superheroes in general but this place is so captivating even for the neutral, I could spend hours here looking at the amazing work of art. Model collecting had grown into a big business. XM even caught the eye of Temasek Holdings which is one of XM’s investor.  The 19,000 sqft space is a delightful place to immense yourself into the world of superheroes. Most of the models can be purchase online except for the limited edition piece. Showroom staff is always on hand to help customers who wish to see the physical piece before making a purchase. XM Studios is suitable fo

Wolf Money(Astrea 7 Bonds IPO)

Image
A quick note on Astrea 7 bonds. There are two tranches of the Astrea 7 bonds for retail subscription. 1.) Class A-1 rated Singapore dollar bond which pays a coupon rate of 4.125% 2.) Class B rated US dollar bond which pays a coupon rate of 6% Both bonds will have a step up interest of 1% after 5 years if the issuer decide not to call back the bonds. I find the Astrea 4.125% Singapore dollars bonds attractive for a stag(apply ipo and sell on first bell). The yield on a 5 years SGS bond are at 2.57% and 2.73% on a 10 years SGS bond. My guess it is likely to trade above par of $1.02-1.03. Stag for some ramen. I wouldn’t be holding the bond due to the fast rising interest environment. I am avoiding the USD bond due to currency risk and credit risk given Class B is close to junk status where credit risk are higher. Class A-1 bond holders will have priority over the cash flow from portfolio companies in the bond over the Class B tranche. Interest for both bonds will be paid semi annually.

Wolf Bargain(frontier of delicious food)

Shi Wei Xian HK Tim Sum mean “food right in front” base on direct translation but the food stall is actually at the back of Geylang East Industrial Estate housed in Guan Guan coffeeshop. The owner mean “A successful f&b business need to build on the basis of good food as priority over other things”. One wouldn’t be venturing into Geylang East Industrial Estate unless you are going for a new car paint job or finding a printer for your pamphlets. Location of Shi Wei Xian is not far from the bustling commercial district of Paya Lebar. It is a hidden gem of Paya Lebar. The eatery had gained much fanfare by letting the food do the talking, no neon lights, no pretentious table cloth and no fanciful cutlery just an amazing little place with honest to goodness affordable food. It is nice to get a break from paying expensive food. Their serving is generous too. There are plenty of car parking for those who drive as most of the factories are closed for weekend. https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/www.piplum.com/crypto-quotes/funny-crypto-quotes/%3famp=1 I thought I could drop in a few lines on the current market situation. For the past month or so, almost all assets experience some degree of crash or correction except for USD. Bond, stocks, gold and crypto all experience some degree of correction. The selling had spread to quality blue chip stock like Apple and Amazon due to the very fact the world is more connected financially than ever. Some multi assets fund might be facing margin call and redemption from investors. In order to cover the shortfall, some funds are force to sell the good asset to cover the financial black hole in other asset class. That also explain why some good companies even they are not related to any negative issues surrounding the world economy face selling pressure.   The key reason to the current selling was due to Fed policy missteps. With the withdrawal of 2T in cheap money, those growth stock(crypto included) floating o

“Dollars and Sense” How We Misthink Money and How to Spend Smarter by Dan Ariely and Jeff Kreisler is a very interesting book that investigate our psychology on how we think about money and how we spend them. Many decisions taken by marketer of a product took into consideration how a human mind react in a certain predictable way. For e.g you are likely to spend less money if you use cash to pay for every purchase. Human psychology of seeing money, sometime large amount of it disappearing before our very eyes caused emotional pain which lead us to spending less or be more conservative with our money. One local example (nothing to do with the book) I can think off is in the area of sports betting illegally or legally. It is quite common to hear the punters at coffeeshop calling and placing a bet with their bookie “Man Utd give half ball $2000” without a flinch of an eye. Unfortunately Man Utd loss, the punter was also quick to tell the bookie at the end of the match “ I will settle wit
