Wolf Bargain(frontier of delicious food)

Shi Wei Xian HK Tim Sum mean “food right in front” base on direct translation but the food stall is actually at the back of Geylang East Industrial Estate housed in Guan Guan coffeeshop. The owner mean “A successful f&b business need to build on the basis of good food as priority over other things”. One wouldn’t be venturing into Geylang East Industrial Estate unless you are going for a new car paint job or finding a printer for your pamphlets. Location of Shi Wei Xian is not far from the bustling commercial district of Paya Lebar. It is a hidden gem of Paya Lebar. The eatery had gained much fanfare by letting the food do the talking, no neon lights, no pretentious table cloth and no fanciful cutlery just an amazing little place with honest to goodness affordable food. It is nice to get a break from paying expensive food. Their serving is generous too. There are plenty of car parking for those who drive as most of the factories are closed for weekend.

Special thank to my good friend and Abang, Deon for the recommendation. Shi Wei Xian sell a good selection of traditional HK Tim Sum at very affordable price. The price is wallet friendly, very reasonable to be frank. My family of three spent $21.60 on 6 items ordered. The taste is as good as any top Tim Sum Restaurant in Singapore minus the dining glittery. The taste is as close as what you can get in HK without the need for an air ticket. Given the very affordable price and great taste, that put it at the upper echelon of the Wolf Bargain list. The place is great for family gathering even the most disconcerting mother in law will knock her head in approval. At 10.30am the coffeeshop is half occupied by patrons of the stall. Mind you, it is a very big coffeeshop. Shi Wei Xian only operate during weekend(Saturday and Sunday only). Please don’t come rushing down during weekday after reading my blog. Tulong Tulong(Malay word for beg) 🙏

(Menu,Cheap Cheap Cheap even the bird will agreed)

(Super crunchy Prawn Beancurd Roll@$3.60 ,very shiok)

We ordered Lotus Leaf Rice, Crab Meat Siew Mai, Steamed Beancurd Roll, Fried prawn beancurd skin roll too, Yuan Yang Chee Cheong Fan, Prawn Dumpling.

(Lotus Leaf Rice@$3.50,soft enough even no teeth grandma and grandpa can eat)

Lotus Leaf Rice is soft with good amount of wax meat, chicken and mushroom filling. Crab Meat Siew Mai is spongy, Prawn in the dumpling has a good springing texture. Fried Beancurd Skin Roll is deep fried to perfection, had a satisfying crunch. My favourite is the Yuan Yang Chee Cheong Fan($4), there were five freshly made Cheong Fan wrapped with Prawn and Cha Siew. Making Cheong Fan is a difficult art. If Cheong Fan is overcooked, it will become gluey. The chef exhibited high degree of skill and good experience to pull off this dish. The special soya sauce give a sweet and savoury aftertaste. Century Egg Pork Porridge($2) and Gu Cai dumpling(off menu item)are worthy of a try. There are other off menu items which you can ordered. Shi Wei Xian is my top 3 HK Tim Sum in Singapore. With an affordable price tag and great taste, Shi Wei Xian is truly a Lone Wolf Bargain that touches heart.(Dian Xin)
