Penny University Coffeehouse had just moved from East Coast to Kampong Glam four weeks ago. As the World Cup score goes 1 vs 0 in favour of “Glam”orous. Penny University has a good following for their coffee. My brother is a fan of their coffee. He rushed down to have a coffee when I WhatsApp him the photo. They used to be mainstay of the cafe scene in East Coast. They had just moved from East Coast to Jln Klapa along Victoria Street. “East Coaster” loss is a gain for the “Glam”orous.

Housed in a corner shophouse, its minimalistic deco bring a sense calm and tranquility to the people who are seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of life. One can’t feel more at ease in the cafe. Reading a book or letting the mind wonder is such priceless moment which I will encouraged all to give your mind a holiday just by doing nothing. Periodic break works wonder for the soul.

I ordered a long black. I am mightily impressed with the quality of their coffee. It is one of the most unique coffee I had drank. It can almost pass off as a stronger version of a fruit tea. The coffee is fruity, it doesn’t had a bitter after taste. Some coffee has sharp taste and the bitterness linger in the palate for a while but Penny’s long black using Uganda beans is citrusy which come with a sweet after taste. The coffee is easy to drink even for non coffee drinker. Faris, the senior barista mentioned the beans are roasted in house to ensure quality and freshness, the citrusy taste coming from the coffee is due the coffee crop growing along side a berry plantation. You could also get a half pound bag to DIY at home.

Besides the low valuation suffered by our market participants, investors of our market have to navigate the complexity of low ball offers from majority shareholders. One would expect a local banking giant to lead as a beacon for good corporate governance. Unfortunately, they have decided to turn a blind eye and join the dark side of the forces, blatantly ignoring the IFA report to pay a fair price for GEH.
