Wolf Money(Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin)

There was an interview done by Tucker Carlson with Vladimir Putin. I find the interview educational and informative. I sat through the two hours interview during the eve of Lunar New Year and never got bored by the program. The interview gave the viewers a glimpse into the thought process of the Russian President. It explains the history that lead up to Russia-Ukraine war. Be objective, is the key to enjoy the interview. I have learnt something from it. Below are my 5 points summary.

1.) To be objective, one needs to study history in its full context. Taking a snapshot of history doesn’t necessarily give one the full picture of the root cause.

2.) The interviewer had skillfully given Vladimir Putin a good platform to speak his mind and also to sell his point of view on the war. One may not agree with the war, but it felt like a public relations coup for Russia and Putin.

3.) There is a sense, at least in my impression that Putin is a person that the West can do business with.

4.) After watching the interview, I suspect, the Ukraine-Russia war might be nearing a ceasefire soon.

5.) I speculate Putin would like to end the war with a negotiated deal for reason(s) unknown to the viewers of the interview. Putin might sense he will be in a weaker position to negotiate a deal if the war drags on, or it could be the other way where he felt confident at this juncture to negotiate a favourable deal from a position of strength for Russia due to him “holding all the right cards”. Elections are scheduled to be held in Russia and US this year. Both sides may be keen to draw a conclusion to the war which they can sell it as moral victory to their respective electorate.

The interview is worth spending 2 hours watching, a mind opener that helps stretched the bandwidth of the brain for those interested in geopolitics. Below is the link to the interview.
