Wolf Bargain(Chow Zan Dessert@Changi Jewel)

Last Sunday, I was at the shop to show my support for my friend, Raphael, for his latest f&b venture of opening a dessert café at Changi Jewel. His shop, Chow Zan Dessert has been a long time coming for him after working tirelessly on the project for close to 2 years. My many congratulations to him. May the cash register rings endlessly. Kaching !

Let’s get serious about the food. The most important factor in making a delicious dessert is to have fresh ingredients. Desserts are more than just sweet. They are the oasis to our soul. Chow Zan has more than 50 desserts to choose from. They must be one of the only few dessert cafés that offer such a wide assortment. My family are spoiled for choices.

(Extensive menu)

(Mango Sago with Jelly Pop and Vanilla Ice-Cream)

Desserts are categorised into hot and cold. They will be offering a breakfast menu on a later date. We ordered a Mango Sago with Vanilla Ice-Cream, Orh Nee (Sweet Yam Paste with Ginko nuts) and a scoop of Strawberry Ice-Cream.

Mango Sago Jelly Pop with Vanilla Ice-Cream is creamy and refreshing at the same time. The sweetness and the slight citrusy taste of the mango is perfect on a hot day. It felt like I was teleported into Bali for a nice topical holiday. The jelly pop sends your taste buds into a whimsical wonderland.

(Sweet Yam Paste with ginko nuts)

I am a fan of yam inspired dessert. The Orh Nee paste has a balance between the sweet and the earthy taste of the yam. I like it very much especially with the small drizzle of coconut milk that adds fragrance to the dessert.

My praise goes to the shop for being genuine and authentic. They never scrimp on ingredients. Even to the finer detail in the ice-cream they used. The Strawberry Ice-Cream came with real fruit. They could have saved cost by getting a cookie cutter off the shelf factory favoured Strawberry Ice-Cream. Kudos to the management for their efforts in maintaining a high quality for their desserts. Other recommendations include 9 platter, White Chendol with D24 Durian and Mango Sticky Rice.
