Titanic   The year was 1997 when the movie 'Titanic' started its record breaking journey in the box office. This year is the 25th anniversary since the first screening of the movie. In my opinion, the movie is by far the best movie Hollywood had ever produced, the movie had everything going for it, a strong storyline, good emotion, breathtaking cgi, A list casts and great soundtracks, it was a mind bending experience watching the movie. I admit pouring my soul out in the cinema when I was still a young punk finding my way in life. I was spell-bounded by the movie, I even bought an original movie poster.  (I hope the poster is worth as much as the Casablanca movie poster in the future) I took my curiosity further by visiting the Titanic museum in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the birthplace of The Titanic. Given the long absence, I was pretty excited to attend the Singapore Trading Festival seminar at SGX centre in person with a couple of my ex colleagues. There was a sense of anticipation. The event was well received by the public as full attendance was assured.   I was drawn to the book by Kamal Gupta in most part by its title ‘Play It Right’ The Remarkable Story of a Gambler Who Beat the Odds on Wall Street. Gambling and Wall Street made an interesting concoction for the storyline. The book has that personal biography feel. It talks about the life story of the author. I will skip the growing up part and jump right into the world of blackjacks and Wall Street.  The author graduated with top grades from Indian Institution of Technology. He was never keen in his field of study, going to America was his only hope of getting out of poverty. He started a job as an engineer with Honeywell in the 80s which come with an annual salary of 37k, a high benchmark for a foreigner coming into America getting his first job but that was not what he was looking for.
