Wolf Money(portfolio update end Oct 2021) long post!

Lone Wolf Fund(LWF) Portfolio as at end of October   1.)  Keppel Corporation   2.) Cash Commentary   Today marked the 100th post of my blog. It had been a good self discovery journey since I started this blog in January. Some good books, food and stocks were found. I will like to encourage all to partake your own self discovery. There are plenty of beautiful things in our surrounding waiting to be discovered. Just take some time to smell the rose. It is worthy of every moment. Most markets including our STI did well in the month of Oct. The huge correction predicted by the market commentator turn out to be a wimp. The Straits times index was up close to 4 percent for the month of Oct. My portfolio had a quiet month in term of capital movement. As mention in my previous update I am unlikely to do much to my portfolio currently due to lack of opportunities that I am comfortable with in putting my capital to work. I continue to be steadfast with my holding in Keppel Cor...

“ Half Time” changing your game plan from success to significance by Bob Buford is a thought provoking book handed down to me by a friend of mine. Thank you for the kind gesture, Dalip. This is a book everyone should take a moment to read. It might just change your prospective towards life. The author described what life he envisaged in the second half vs what he did during his first. Imagine what if sweet smell of success is not as sweet anymore. Closing a big deal, achieving record earning for the company didn’t bring him as much joy and satisfaction. In some way, he was suffering from a bit of that mid life crisis when he was at the top of his game as a successful cable tv entrepreneur. In the first half, He was a highly successful business owner in his field of cable tv. He made a good career and in process reaping the rewards for all the nice trimmings which you will normally associate with a good life. A successful career, nice house and luxury cars. In his second half, he divert...

Wolf Bargain(Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King Four Season Bugis)

(Shop Front Source : Company website) Many would have heard about this ramen shop. They had their first outlet at Orchid Hotel. Headed by Ramen Champion Chef, Tekeda Keisuke, it was a sensational hit with the diners where long queue can be seen circling half way round the hotel when they opened in 2005. The queue is a bit more tame now. They have grown quite a few outlets since 2005 and across different ramen styled in Singapore.  My family frequent their Ramen Keisuke Four Season outlet at Bugis Village. My son always felt the spring in his steps when I bring him to the restaurant. It is a shop where we can enjoy good comfort food and warm service. My son can be testimonial to the good food and service. My Ramen goes for around $12. I ordered a winter ramen with additional seaweed. The soup is well boiled. I was told they need to cook it for 8 hours to bring out the favour of the soup. My Ramen came with some modifications with no oil, less salt and normal noodle texture. The full...

The book “Big Money Think Small” by Joel Tillinghast talks about what investors should look out for when they invest. I find the book quite intense as it covers many topics including Psychology and Forensic aspect of investing. Psychology aspect talks about our own bias towards certain investment and the herd mentality of FOMO(fear of missing out). Asset bubbles like South Sea and The Dutch Tulip Mania were prime example of FOMO that ultimately lead to chasing of inflated assets which cause an unprecedented crash.  (Contents) Forensic aspect are mostly centred around reading financial statements especially the footnotes of accounting statement. Although I never believe one should have a degree in accounting or ACCA certification to be a good investor but having some accounting knowledge is definitely helpful. Drawing on my own experience, I always invest in company that produce strong operating cash flow. Operating cash flow represent the health of the business. Operating ca...
