Wolf Bargain(FairPrice dining)

(De Kitchen in the supermarket)

(Diners can buy some Korean Soju to go with the meal)

(Buy seafood and meat for The Kitchen to do their “magic”)

(Green are available for stir fry)

I recently had a meal at FairPrice X’tra, Parkway Parade, using some near-expiring FairPrice vouchers. On many occasions, I have been to many eateries and restaurants and I might even bought a quick salad from a supermarket, but never have I once had a meal in a supermarket. I got to know this is not a recent discovery for many because there was a strong crowd gathering in front of the bar, probably drawn by the cheap happy hour booze. The bar is offering a 1-for-1 beer at $6.90. There is a cafe for non-drinkers slipping down their cappuccino at the extreme left-hand corner and a dedicated area for the kids to play their arcade games. The supermarket has a lot going for it. Strange in some ways, creative in another. A unique way to draw in the curious diners.

The Kitchen is a “Zi Char” stall located inside Fairprice X’tra, Parkway Parade. They do on-the-spot cooking for customers who bring them fresh ingredients bought from the supermarket. One can buy a piece of steak and have it cooked by the chef.

(Look at the colour of the fish. Total $43 FairPrice vouchers)

My son loves his Red Snapper. His preferred way of eating the fish is by steaming. We ordered HK Style steamed Red Snapper. The fish cost about $13 for 350g. The meal preparation cost another $8. We also order a portion of basic egg fried rice for $7 and a stir-fried vegetable for another $15 with preparation fees of $4 included. All in all, the bill came up to around $43 which I find it fair.

(Basic egg fried rice with prawn and chicken)

The basic egg fried rice gives us an impression: there are only eggs and nothing else. Later, we realised, there were a couple of prawns and some cubed grilled chicken thrown in the mix. The fried rice is delicious.

(The fish is fresh. The savoury and sweet soya sauce gives the fish a nice aroma)

(It is as fresh as eating out from a farm. The other way is to grow your own vegetables)

The stir-fried vegetables is one that I enjoyed. The greens are fresh. The dish is cooked without much seasoning except for some chopped garlic and soya sauce. All the dishes are moderately seasoned. I will be back to explore other dishes. It is a strange place to have a meal, but it worked out alright. The Kitchen@ Fairprice X’tra is a great way to spend those FairPrice vouchers.
