Wolf Money(Singapore Savings Bonds May 2023 review)

Image
I am surprised the current May issue SSBs still retain a yield of more than 3%. We might be seeing the last of the 3% SSBs reflecting a potential pivoting by the Fed on rate hiking cycle in May. The yield for next month SSBs is likely to be much lower as SGS 10 years bond yield is struggling to hold onto 2.7%. The current issue is characterised by a flat yield curve for the next 7 years at 3.03%, follow by a slight uptick in yield towards the till end of the bond. The close of application is on the 25th April. Good luck to those applying. Wolf Bargain(shiok circuit)

Image
(The colourful HDB blocks give Circuit Road estate a distinctive look) Today Lone Wolf is exploring Circuit Road Hawker Centre. A bit of history on Circuit Road, the road got its name from the road that circle around the HDB blocks which was built in the 60s to house victims of the deadly Bukit Ho Swee fire that wiped out the whole estate in 1961 which left 16,000 homeless.   (The longest Hawker Centre in Singapore stretching more than 100m) I find the estate alluring as it retains the old charm of early HDB living. The elongated hawker centre stretching more than 100m must be the longest hawker centre in Singapore. The hawker centre is a short walk from Mattar MRT Station along DTL. I managed to find a few delicious gems in the hawker centre.  Ghim Guan Fried Oyster(#01-60) One can always get a sense of the popularity of this Fried Oysters by the endless decks of eggs stacking up high in front of the stall. The Fried Oyster is one of the nicer one I had recently. The O...

Wolf Bargain(Van Gogh : The Immersive Experience)

Image
(Very impatient person, I can’t wait to see the exhibition)  My lovely wife knows I am an art lover so she bought us tickets to the Van Gogh, The Immersive Experience Exhibition held at RWS, Sentosa. Each weekday ticket cost $36 and come with a VR experience.  (Mural of Van Gogh’s sunflower) Let’s get a couple of imperfection out of the way. The exhibition is held at Resort World Sentosa, slightly out of my way going to pleasure island. One small disappointment, none of Vincent Van Gogh’s genuine masterpiece was on display. I know it is going to cost the exhibitor more than a pretty penny to bring in all the masterpieces but surely just one genuine work of Van Gogh going on display would had elevate the experience. Is it still worth getting the ticket without the Van Gogh genuine work? Read on. (Getting into the act) (Ouch!! Where’s my ear?) (One of many of Van Gogh’s self portraiture) I am actually quite pleased with my experience. I think the organiser had achieve cer...

(Big, bigger, biggest, UBS is by far the biggest bank in Switzerland after Credit Suisse takeover) Lone Wolf Fund(LWF) Portfolio as at end of March 1.) Cash 2.) Bank of China(3988.HKG) 3.) Boustead Singapore(BSL) 4.) Haw Par Corporation(HPC) *Stocks are not rank in accordance to capital invested .  *Just for sharing. Not an inducement to buy or sell . Commentary Most markets had a volatile March due to SVB fallout and the blow up of Credit Suisse. SVB downfall was a classic case of mismanaging of risks. One been clients concentration risk(tech), the other been interest rate risk and liquidity risk sum up the situation. As a broker previously, we managed all sort of risks beside market risk, the main been credit risks and concentration of clients. In our industry, it is better to have many small accounts than to have one or two large accounts that generated the most income for us. If the clients are too big to fail or exhibit tremendous leverage on your income, the broker run the ri...
