Wolf Money(Singapore Savings Bonds Aug 2023 review)

(Credit: MAS website) Welcome to Aug SSBs review. The 10 years average yield came in at 2.99% which I think is decent. Next month SSBs yield base on the 10 years SGS bond yield is likely to be similar to this month. The yield on 10 years SGS bond had came off from the 3.1%ish level toward 2.9%ish towards end of the month. The drop in inflation data coming out of US pushes the yield on 10 years UST down therefore lowering the yield for our 10 years SGS. The current month application closed on 26th July 9pm. Wolf Money(The Demise of The Singapore Stock Market)

(Credit: Yahoo Finance; Last index high of 3900 in 2007, 16 years and counting. Lost decade of Singapore Market) I spent two nights thinking about this write up since it is a subject close to my heart. The passion and concern I had for our stock market are real. I hope SGX can see my commentary in a positive light. It is about solving problem that matters, no witch-hunting was intended. During my last monthly update. I am critical about SGX for not doing enough to promote the vibrancy of our stock market. After the blog, I have been getting more SGX senior executives looking at my LinkedIn profile. I hope people at SGX can see it as constructive criticism. I want to make my point of view clear before anyone get an impression that I am grinding my axe on our stock market. I love Singapore market, I am also a bull on Singaporean companies. How could I not love our stock market where I allocate most of my investment? The declining interest in our stock market did not happen overnight, i

Wolf Bargain(Hawker Gems, Cheap Cheaper Cheapest!)

Some of the best food can be found in hawker centres across the island. There are a couple of hawker stalls that stand out to be fine examples of what cheap and good really means. In Singapore, there are plenty of expensive and good food but hawkers preserving their trade by selling affordable food is a dying breed. I came across 2 stalls that are sticking their necks out by going against the trend of food inflation. They are genuinely passionate in showcasing their culinary prowess and profitability is secondary to them.  Cat in The Hat Bakery 505 Beach Road, Golden Mile Hawker Centre(#01-106) Operating hours 11am-3pm I am about to share a secret bargain for French pastries, a Chocolate Tart for $2.50? Madeleines for $1.50 each? Let the cat in the hat out of the bag.  If you are a fan of French pastries, this is for you. Cat in the Hat Bakery is a hawker stall located in Golden Mile Hawker Centre.   I have decided to sell off my HPC at a 4% loss after dividend. Some profit from BOC sale were used to do the spring cleaning. I don’t quite like the way the stock is trading. There is simply a lack of interest in the stock even though it is way undervalued by a mile. I am also cautious on potential weakness of the general market if we have another hot inflation number before Wall Street opened on Wednesday. I hope to do better next time. God Bless.
