(Image credit: The Business Times) When to say no The recent Anti-Money Laundering operation by the police rounded up 10 suspects with close to $2.4b in assets and cash seized. It is one of the largest AML seizures in Singapore’s history. Over 100 luxury properties, top of the line cars, cash and gold bars were taken in as part of the operation. I am not here to talk about the case as investigations are ongoing. The case implicated many property agents. Some were suspected of direct involvement and some unknowingly got implicated in the case. Lawyers and bankers for some of those transactions are unlikely to be off the hooks too. When to say NO is a simple and yet difficult reply. For this headline-grabbing case, big money was involved. It is very difficult to say No to a property transaction worth millions of dollars where one huge deal can bring in a year’s worth of earnings. I am not condoning those agents who have broken the laws. The No reply is not as simple as No, given housin

Wolf Bargain(Buffet galore 2 times over)

(At $18.80++ for weekday lunch or dinner buffet, it is hard to beat) Crystal Cafe, Orchard Grand Court Hotel https://www.ogc.com.sg/dining.html I have to be honest, I am not a buffet person, but I keep suggesting going to a buffet with my wife. Maybe I am a buffet person after all๐Ÿค”.This Taiwan porridge buffet is no Taiwan porridge, it is probably closer to the Teochew Porridge style. I am sure Taiwanese don’t eat those things found in the buffet spread. The most Taiwanese of all things is Fermented Beancurd, which is likely made in Taiwan. Take nothing away from Crystal Cafe for putting up a credible buffet spread amid the low price. The restaurant looks rather tired with its mid 80s deco but at $18.80 per person for a weekday lunch or dinner buffet, it is hard to be picky. There’re enough selections to keep everyone happy. Wu Xiang(Fried Five Spices Meat Roll) is my favourite, a must try. There were plenty of braised dishes to go with sweet potato porridge like eggs and beancurd pu

(Source: MAS website) The yield for Oct SSBs had reached its highest since Jan 2023. The average yield of 3.16% is an improvement from last month 3.06%. 3/4 of the current month had passed, it seem Nov SSBs yield will be higher than 3.16%, setting another year high due to higher yield in SGS 10 year. The SSBs yield took reference from 10 years SGS bond yield. With the current reflation of Oil, approaching USD $100 per barrel, it is very unlikely Fed rate increase is going to pause. The path to higher rate look set to continue for at least this year. Closing date for this month application is on the 26th of September 2023@9PM. God Bless. Wolf Money(SBS Transit Ltd)

There was a new addition to The Lone Wolf Fund this month. I bought just about enough shares in SBS Transit to generate enough dividend to cover my family’s public transport cost. The recent 7% increase in public transport fares which workout to be around 10c-11c extra per trip, will have a positive impact on SBS Transit Rail’s bottomline as the company co share fare revenue with LTA under the new rail financing framework for DTL and NEL. DBS research estimates the fare hike will improve SBS Transit’s bottomline by $14.7m. The newly introduced fare formula helps address the drop in daily commuters due to work from home trend reducing growth in passenger numbers. The upward adjustment of fares increase SBS Transit Rail revenue by close to $21m a year with 15.6% of the outstanding fare increase carrying over to next year fare review. The government pays a grant to the public transport companies for the deferment of the outstanding fare increases. Rail ridership in August reached an all t
