The below article is for educational purposes only. Kindly refrain from taking any action. It shouldn’t constitute as an investment advice. Please read the disclaimer . The headline looks good with a 22% growth in net profit in 3Q, but there is always a but somewhere. The extraordinary gain from the disposal of a depot in Victoria helped do the heavy lifting. If you stripped out the gain, operating earnings were flat in Q3. I have decided to sell the shares. The results failed to meet expectations. The $870m acquisitions over the past 2 years did very little to bring in the desired boost to CDG’s profit. The balance sheet is more leveraged compare to 2024. Gearing is now just under 20% from last year’s net cash position. My suspicion that Addison Lee and A2B underperformed in 3Q even though individual units performance were not disclosed in the Q3 update. I wish the good people at CDG all the best. LWF made 2c, enough to cover brokerage fees and some lunches. LWF doesn’t hold CDG...

Wolf Money(Thai Beverage PCL)

Image
The below article is for educational purpose only. Kindly refrain from taking any action. It shouldn’t constitute as an investment advice. Please read the disclaimer . In the name of transparency, I declare of having a position in Thai Beverage PCL at current price as at today. I am still trying to size my position. After the run up in Wilmar and Genting SP which are part of the group of trio underperforming the STI Index. I am unwilling to let Thai Beverage slip away from my fingers since I have been following the stock very closely. The alcohol ban seems to have little impact on the stock price. The stock is trading within the tight range of 46-48c. Please don’t follow. My position can reversed as fast as I bought it. God Bless. Wolf Money(Thai Beverage PCL)sold detail explanations

Image
The confusion surrounding Thailand ban on alcohol sales during 2pm to 5pm is causing uncertainty to business operators in the F&B and tourism sector. I suspect this might just be a passing issue, but I can’t ignore the effect on alcohol consumption in the short term. It is a law that scored an own goal to Thailand already sluggish economy, marked by falling tourist numbers. More details at the end of the month portfolio update. Brokerage fees will be accounted at the end of month returns. God Bless. *My deeper worry is for retailer and f&b to shorten the sales hour by another 1 or 2 hours before 2pm which effective cuts the selling hours by up to 5 hours. The law is directed at individuals which are subjected to USD $300 fines if caught breaking the rule. Retailers and drinkers of alcohol are likely to be more cautious so as not to break the law of selling or drinking within the restricted hours. The previous law focused more on the sales side of things, with consumers la...

Wolf Bargain(Temasek Shophouse)

Image
(The art deco frontage of the shophouse) (Very well thought mission statement) For the past few weeks, I have been meeting friends for breakfasts and lunches at Temasek Shophouse. Temasek Shophouse is owned by Temasek Trust which is the philanthropic arm of our sovereign wealth fund. The impact hub gathers change makers in the area of social enterprises and social services. It provides a space for strengthening relationships, fostering collaborations and catalysing solutions for a positive impact on social development.  (The main hall) Upon stepping into the building, I feel special walking into the space. It was all peaceful and quiet in the morning. It is an oasis in the heart of Orchard. The newly renovated building maintains the old charm. What the architect did was to install modern amenities. There is a huge hall, great for hosting events. (Event space for lease) Guests can order a coffee from Foreword to enjoy the space at their own time. Tables and chairs are availab...

Wolf Money(Thai Beverage PCL)

Image
(Image credit: thestar.com.my) The below article is for educational purpose only. Kindly refrain from taking any action. It shouldn’t constitute as an investment advice. Please read the disclaimer . I bought back partial of my sold Thai Beverage PCL shares at the current price due to positive news coming out of Thailand. Chinese President, Xi, pledged to help Thailand bring back tourists from the Mainland if the country forgoes the idea of setting up a casino in the future. Thailand might see a surge in Chinese tourists in the upcoming CNY period. Chinese tourists to Thailand are down by a third compared to last year. This position is purely on the core business recovering. BeerCo listing is not part of my consideration given the death of the Queen. It might be seen as bad optics to be seeking a listing for their beer unit. The listing delays can be up to 3 months to a year based on my guesstimate. Thai Beverage will be reporting full year earnings towards the end of Nov. 2c wort...

Wolf Money(Comfortdelgro)

Image
(Image credit: Comfortdelgro) This purchase was inspired by my son. He likes buses and trains. I asked him would he like to invest in the company that runs the public transport service we rely on? He says yes. I am buying with the intention of looking at their upcoming q3 results out by the middle of this month. I have no idea how they going to fare. So far, CDG’s results haven’t met my expectations. A strict cut loss strategy would be warranted. Wolf Money(portfolio update end Oct 2025)

(Image credit: caniretireyet.com) The Middle Class Trap This write-up is a combination of my observation and experience. Imagine a couple with two kids earning a combined income of $14,000. Comfortable income by any measure if the family spend well below their means.  The biggest expense of any household with kids goes into sending the children to school. The initial years of sending them to childcare are the most draining on household finances. Most parents, if not all parents, wanted the best for their kids. Enrolling them in a good childcare. The school fees for 2 to 6 years old are around $1900 per child per month before government rebates are given to working mothers.  For a family of 4, a family car can help move people around easily. An entry-level car will set out another $2500 per month in installment and related expenses. If the wife wanted to live in a nice 3-bedroom condo with a swimming pool for the kids to enjoy the facilities. Mortgage payments are likely...
