Wolf Bargain(Double happiness???)

What is Wolf Bargain double happiness???  One blog two wonderful snacks for tea break? One sweet and one savoury? Sound good? Read on.

First up YY coffee shop sugar doughnut. The coffeeshop is located near the corner of Purvis St. YY coffee shop is run by the current owner for more than 10 years. The coffeeshop sell hand made old school sugar doughnut. It is only available after 10.30am. The doughnuts are always freshly made due the amount of doughnuts the coffee shop sell. People are buying them as fast as what the kitchen could chunked out. People are buying in bulk of 10 or 20 doughnuts at one go. The warm doughnut is soft and there is a fine sugar coat on the outer layer of doughnut. Surprisingly the doughnut is not overly sweet. It is perfect with a cup of unsweetened Tea O or English Breakfast. Each treat sell for $1.20. YY coffee shop has another specialty in form of freshly made gula melaka kaya butter bun. Do give it a try too. Do expect a queue during peak hours especially after the reopening for dining in.

The second snack is for curry puff lover. Er Jie(laterally sound like “swan sister” as direct translation into English, the Chinese swan is a different word) curry puff  have two outlets. To be honest, I knew nothing about them even thou they have been in operation for more than 10 years in Golden Mile Tower which is a stone throw away from where I stayed (it just shows one could still find hidden gem in your neighbourhood even after staying for more 40 years) 😀. They have another outlet at ARC 380 near Lavender St./ Bendemeer Rd junction.

(Mdm. Lok, the owner has been in business for more than 30 years, going back from Selegie)

Er Jie curry puff is the best puff I have tasted so far with 4.9 out of 5 stars from google review, one can’t go very wrong with that. The texture of the crust is just right, it is between Old Chang Kee(firm) and Tip Top(fluky). I try their piping hot chicken curry puff($1.60). They have puff in Luncheon($1.60), Sardine and Otah($2 each pre ordering required for both). The curry puff is heavenly delicious. It is deep fried to perfection in small batches to maintain freshness. The filling is compact, come with a piece of chicken and a quarter size hard boil egg. The potato is soft and mildly spicy. Great for kids too. The crust has a nice buttery taste. The golden brown puff is not overly salted. Overall very satisfying. Golden Mile Tower outlet only sell curry puff after 3pm for walk in. The ARC 380 outlet opened between 11am-7pm. If you are looking for one of a kind non factory cookie cutters type of curry puff, this one is for you. I will suggest drowning a can of coke with the curry puff. Cristiano Ronaldo might disagreed 🥤but it is the most satisfying experience one can give themselves after a good day work. No harm for the occasional treat. Life is short. Yolo. I am pretty sure many customers will be dancing to the tune of swan lake after eating the puffs of “swan sister”.
