Starbucks former CEO, Howard Schultz build a successful behemoth coffee joint by coining the idea of a third place. What actually is a third place? First place is your home, second place your office and third place is a comfortable cafe to enjoy that well deserved coffee break. As work from home arrangement blur the line of home and office. The third place had become more important for periodic break in between work.

The latest addition to the third place cafe eco system, The Providore is a growing chain of cafes run by local. They have outlets in Orchard, Raffles Place and City Hall. They serve coffee at a reasonably price. I particularly like the breakfast menu. English Breakfast, Ricotta Pancake and Sourdough Toast to name a few. Barn laid eggs and Sourdough Toast is my favourite item on the menu. Great for Vegan.

The sourdough toast is freshly made daily. The eggs with bright orangey yolks are the kind of eggs which can be seen on Jeremy Oliver cooking show only. Sourdough toast is crusty on the outside and soft inside. There is a tinge of sourness which is at acceptable level. Sourdough with jam and butter make them a perfect combo. The black coffee is strong but not overwhelming. A regular size cost a fiver excluding taxes.

I prefer the outdoor seating due to good ventilation which I enjoy reading a book and people watching in a lazy afternoon. It is a fantastic place to have a quiet leisure conversation with friends. The Providore had become my favourite third place. Service is exceptional. Special thank you to Peter and Michelle for the exemplary service.

Besides the low valuation suffered by our market participants, investors of our market have to navigate the complexity of low ball offers from majority shareholders. One would expect a local banking giant to lead as a beacon for good corporate governance. Unfortunately, they have decided to turn a blind eye and join the dark side of the forces, blatantly ignoring the IFA report to pay a fair price for GEH.
