Wolf Bargain(Lunch, get set ready go)

I am always on a look out for value lunch sets. Sometime I host clients and friends for lunches during my brokering days. The habit continue after I left the industry. It is an open secret more than half of the brokers are making minimum wage due to falling commission rates so maximising lunch dollars can be part of the cost control mechanism. How do you take someone to a nice restaurant without looking cheapskate and blowing a hole in the pocket? I have the following recommendations.

Most restaurants would have some sort of weekdays lunch set to draw the wallet pinching lunch crowd. Most office crowd just wanted to eat a quick lunch and get back to work. For those who had a bit more time and need to host a guest on a budget. This is for you.

The restaurant which has its roots back in HK is offering daily 3 courses executive set lunch at $34++. The portion is decent. The mushroom soup starter is lightly creamy as they use more mushrooms than cream. The beef cheek is seared to perfection with slight crusting on the outside, there is a slight sweetness coming from the caramelised brussels sprouts with mash potato. The meat just fell apart while I work through with my steak knife. I had warm spiced apple cake for my dessert. It is a satisfying sweet ending to my lunch. Overall the restaurant is a proper place to bring a client or a date. All set meal come with onion bread which share similar taste to those at Morton’s of Chicago, The steakhouse.

Imperial Treasure Steamboat@Triple One Somerset

I had a previous wallet bursting experience of eating in one of their restaurant at Ion Orchard. 3 persons a la cart steamboat affair turned into a $800 lunch no thank to the geoduck which contributed to the bulk of the bill. I am quite surprised to spot a lunch set offering at their Triple One outlet. The set lunch at $68++ for two is good value. The set lunch is not advertise openly, must have thick skin to ask for it. The seafood is fresh, the chicken soup base is light and tasty without that msg. The restaurant is quiet and it felt like a private dinning experience. Overall it is a classy place to have a meal without breaking the bank provided one stirred clear of the geoduck 😅. The only worry left is overeating, a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Take all food in moderation.
