Wolf Money(Tai Sin Electric)sold

I sold my holdings in Tai Sin Electric today. LWF made a profit of more than 10%, including dividends, for a holding period of 2.5 months. Although I like the business, the rising copper price especially over the last one month, might cause margin pressure, which I have no way of finding out. 

(Copper surged more than 12% over the past month)

The second reason being, I hope not to get carried away by the bull market. I always remember this phrase: “There is a hiding bear among the bulls. I am reducing my exposure to the market. I will also like to take this opportunity to lock in my first profit for the year, for some good luck after the less than stellar performance in 1Q 26. I continue to like the business and their management. I am raising capital for potential redeployment.  LWF holds no share in the company. God Bless.

There might be upside if they are quick to divest their non-core assets. They have to be fast though, the market might not always be readily available for divestments.   I bought an initial interest in the company. As promised, these are the pros and cons of the company. Pros 1.) The value of Banyan Group centred around the 4 square km of land in Phuket which they had acquired in the late 80s. The estimated value of that piece of land currently stands at $4b to $5b in the words of the management. The value of land has been kept at historical cost. 2.) The company has been slowly monetising the Phuket land through residential sales as a developer. This year they are going to book a revenue of $262m on the sale of their projects in Phuket, which is double of what they achieved last year. In total, $620m worth of residential projects were pre-sold. The sales will be booked progressively over the next three years. Their 86%-owned subsidiary, Laguna and Resort PCL reported a close to 250% jump in profit for Q1 25. Laguna and Resort PCL is the largest contributor of profit to Banyan Group. I have decided to get sober on Thai Beverage. The stock performance is poor given STI had just broken our all time high and ThaiBev struggling at near 13-year low. The stock is down close to 15% for the year. I am expecting maybe a quarter or two of poor results to continue due to economic woes in Thailand as weak consumption affecting sales.  The conclusion of trade deal between US-Vietnam will help ThaiBev given Vietnam is their second largest market after Thailand.
